Of course these important lessons apply throughout life. This woman, Monte, is brilliant, sensitive and very insightful. With great clarity she sets out two valuable lessons we can all benefit from remembering, or pondering, if we haven’t learned them already.

It is far better to remember our own struggles, and what we needed and didn’t get earlier in life, and to encourage people in their attempts to improve their lives than to pose as an invulnerable, superior asshole. Vulnerability, and being able to show it, is a strength, not a weakness. So is empathy. Superficiality is its own reward.
