A trillion here, a few hundred billion there, and soon you’re talking about closing rural hospitals, taking away medical insurance from millions of working people, leaving millions of children to go to bed hungry, shutting down renewable energy initiatives while greatly enriching the extractive, deadly fossil fuel industry, unleashing a well-funded (by cuts to the social safety net), masked, heavily armed, poorly trained counterinsurgency gestapo with an unlimited license to shoot Americans in the face, or in the back. The payoff, of course, is that the obscenely wealthy will get more than a trillion additional dollars (a million million dollars) to create jobs, as will their corporate alter-egos who create jobs with stock buybacks to increase shareholder profit. Everybody wins, loser.
